Director’s Welcome Message

마이크로바이옴웰에이징사업단 단장

Dear family and friends,
Thank you for visiting Dongshin University's Microbiome-Based Well-Aging Research Center.

Dongshin University has continuously made multi-faceted efforts with bio-related research institutes, businesses, and local governments to foster the bio-industry in Jeollanam-do.

With these efforts in fruition, the Microbiome-Based Well-Aging Research Center (MARC) was selected for the 2021 Science and Technology Project that Opens the Region's Future, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, under the theme of "Development Microbiome-Based Smart Well-Aging Technology". Hence, as part of the 5-year research and development project, MARC came to be as a running organization.

As it has recently been shown that changes in the gut microbiome affect not only metabolic but also mental diseases, many research groups are striving competitively to dominate the related technologies and to say that the world's leading scientists are being led to the era of the microbiome is no exaggeration. As a result, MARC plans to push for a project encompassing: ▲ Personalized Diagnosis of Microbiome Type and State; ▲ Development of Core Technology for Regulating and Applying Microbiome for Gut-Skin-Vascular Health; ▲ Technology for the Standardization and Quality Control of Microbiome Regulation Materials; ▲ Productization of Microbiome Regulation and Application and Industrialization Support; ▲ Establishment of "Long and Healthy Living Lab" for collecting, analyzing, and organizing big data on the microbiome of local residents; and ▲ Establishment of "Bio Healthcare Smart Platform" based on Korean Aging Clock technology for health and longevity, thereby contributing to the growth of local industries and improvement in the health of local residents.

The following organizations are participating in this project to give their best efforts in achieving the goal of developing microbiome-related core technologies: Dongshin University as a research institute; Korea University as a joint research institute; Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine; Jeonnam Bioindustry Foundation Food Research Center; Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology; B&Tech Co., Ltd.; Jeonnam Technopark; Isan Consulting Group Co., Ltd.; Namyang Dairy Products Co., Ltd.; GoodF&B; People Keeping Health Co., Ltd.; and BIO-FD&C Co., Ltd.

Last but not least, I look forward to honest advice and suggestions from researchers in related fields and wish you all good health and growth.
